history and plans

queeruption was born out of a queer group called anarquist based down at the 121 centre in brixton, london and a collection of folx who wanted to create a space to explore their wonderful queerdome and was open for folx of all sexualities. we had a three day free festival of bands, debate, workshops, food, parties and more, three days of Art, Action & Anarchy

this was in 1998, in 1999 it burst upon new york as a  Radical Queer Encuentro and again changed and evolved with the different politics and ideas coming out of this fair city.

this year sees it in san francisco as a five day event with an aim to "Crossing the boundaries of race, class, religion, gender, age, sexuality, politics..." this will happen in october so go check the site for info at www.queeruption.org

from anarquist & friends who brought you ladidah, the pink pauper and other various weird & disturbing goings comes queeruption iv. this five day fest is in its early planning and our ideas are just taking shape so get involved/ in-touch to help build this into the fabulous gathering it is surely destined to be.

we hope to get a large single venue to save all the wondering around from venue to venue that has happened before. we intend to have a more happening kidz space and aim to pull together performance, exhibitions, carnival, bands and workshops. we know we have a lot of networking to get on with and you can help there by spreading the word now, we especially are looking for translators to help with a multi-lingual paper and website information.
