Queeruption is a free DIY gathering for radical queers of all races, ages, abilities, sizes, genders and sexualities. While some gatherings have been more communal and others more spread out, some held in the city and others rurally, the overall effect is one of building radical queer community, both within the local scene and internationally. Ongoing discussions within the community include topics of race, class and cultural exclusivity, ableism, gender binarism/transphobia, and the reproduction of oppressive sexual norms within radical communities. These topics are of central concern for many of us in our personal lives as well in the political sphere, and the also come up within the context of Queeruption itself. As a community, in an evolving way, we are grappling with these issues

Queeruption 6 will take place from tuesday june 1st till tuesday june 7th at the Afrika squat in Amsterdam. The Afrika is walking distance (10-15 minutes) from Centraal Station, the central railway station of Amsterdam where all international trains arrive. If you fly into Amsterdam, take a train to "Amsterdam Centraal" (a 12 - 17 minute trip). At Centraal Station, follow the signs saying "boot" or "Noord" so that you walk out the back exit to the station facing the water (the IJ). Turn right and keep going with the water on your left side and the traffic on your right side. You will go over a somewhat steep "hill" (actually a viaduct), on the other side you will see a building under construction and following that an oddly-shaped glass building (the PTA, Passenger Terminal Amsterdam). Following that you will see a sign pointing left to Pakhuis Amsterdam. Turn left, go all the way to the quay, and turn right again to follow the water. Before you reach the bridge going across the water, the entrance to the Afrika will be on your right.

During the week there can be direct actions, political discussions, workshops, shared vegan cooking and eating, experimental queer cinema, transgender porno, concerts and queer cabaret, if *you* make it happen.

This is a Do It Yourself gathering! Do you want to do a workshop, bring your film, perform or have an idea about direct action, make it happen! No fucking yuppie scum welcome!

There will be sleeping accomodation for about 250 people in the building itself and there will be (limited) space for trucks and caravans. The ground level (eating-, concert-, workshop- and some sleeping space) will be wheelchair acessible and there is going to be a kidsspace. Bring for as much is possible your own sleeping gear, flashlight, plate, cup and cutlery.
